Questo gruppo di free, cool, contemporary jazz, progressive jazz, ecc. è attivo a Roma da diversi anni (e con vari nomi: Grande Orchestra da Ballo F.lli Ruoppolo, Smooth, Gentlejazz, ecc.). Come Chaussette Verte è un quartetto italo-francese che sviluppa libere improvvisazioni, normalmente senza un tema scritto, a partire da microframmenti. La differenza fondamentale dal free jazz sta nell'interplay più cooperativo che dialogico/competitivo.

Ce groupe de "free, cool, contemporary jazz, progressive jazz, etc.. " se produit à Rome depuis plusieurs années ( sous des noms différents: Grande Orchestra da Ballo F.lli Ruoppolo, Smooth, Gentlejazz, etc..). C’est un quartet italo-français qui improvise, en général sans thème écrit, sur des idées de l’un de ses membres. La différence fondamentale avec le free jazz est dans la manière plus coopérative que compétitive de concevoir l’interplay.

Grande Orchestra da Ballo F.lli Ruoppolo, Smooth, Gentlejazz, etc. It's an Italian-French free improvisation quartet, normally playing without a written theme. We play the tunes starting the improvisation from microfragments (one note, an atmosphere, a light…). We are searching for an interplay, more co-operative than based on a competitive dialog. Trying to avoid the stereotypes (like any furious way to play free jazz) in order to reach to a kind of improvisation builded on a deeper listening between the players

Crea il suo primo gruppo di jazz a 27 anni, in Algeria, la Constantine Jazz Band. Negli anni 80, in Canada, suona nei locali di Montreal con il gruppo Watercolours. Da parecchi anni in Italia, ha suonato con diversi gruppi.

Il fonde son premier groupe de jazz à 27 ans, en Algérie, Constantine Jazz Band. Dans les années 80, au Canada, il joue à Montréal avec le groupe Watercolours. En Italie depuis de nombreuses années, il a joué avec plusieurs groupes.

His first jazz group, when he was 27 years old, in Algeria, was the Constantine Jazz Band. In the 80s, in Canada, played in the Montreal clubs with the Watercolours band. From several years in Italy, Denis has played with many bands, mostly as bandleader.

Intorno al 1976 fonda con Marco Matrunola e Bruno Kropp "L'Universo Esterno (LUE)", band con cui, in una quindicina di anni, dal progressive Rock, evolve fino ad atmosfere tipicamente Fusion. Dalla fine degli anni 80 compone colonne sonore per documentari diretti dal regista romano Antonio Pettinelli per RAI, Caritas Italiana, WFP. Dal 1985 in avanti partecipa a varie esperienze in gruppi rock romani sia con produzioni proprie che come cover band.

En 1976, il fonde avec Marco Matrunola e Bruno Kropp "L'Universo Esterno (LUE)", groupe avec lequel, en quinze ans, il passe du Rock progressif à une atmosphère typiquement Fusion. A partir de la fin des années 80, il compose des musiques de film pour des documentaires réalisés par le metteur en scène romain Antonio Pettinelli pour la RAI, la Caritas Italiana et le WFP. Depuis 1985, il participe à des expériences variées dans des groupes de rock romains ( compositions originales et reprises de succès).
